Horizons GMRS / SFLARC Get Together in the Redlands – Oct 4, 2025

Horizons GMRS (our sister club) setup an amazing get together in the Redlands. The location was excellent. A super clean, well maintained private venue complete with private parking. Soda, beer, wine, bottled water, lunch, and dessert where all provided free of charge to all attendees. There was even a free raffle were multiple radios and other accessories where given out!

In true rufian spirit, some snarky awards were presented. Pedrito took the Year’s Best Sandbagger Award and Alain got The Golden Leash Award for demonstrating unmatched obedience when told “NO” to erecting new antennas at his abode. Blacksheep (Daniel) got a certificate for being the first member of Horizons GMRS when it first launched. He’s member #1.

Towards the end of the evening, two domino tables were buzzing with activity. Once the domino players had their fill, the HF radio came out. W1CLT setup his POTA gear as a demonstration for some perspective new hams. He actually ran up a bunch of contacts as a POTA hunter and helped a few activations out.

Good times, good food, good company. Not bad for a bunch of radio hooligans huh?
